AROMATIC BEEF SAUCE

A truly hearty aromatic beef sauce that is tasty and incredibly easy to cook. Leaving your kitchen with an extraordinary delicious aroma!

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup Olive Oil
  • 1 kg cubed Beef
  • 1 cup Pitted Dates
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 ONGA Cubes
  • 1 medium bulb Onion
  • 3 large thumb sized Ginger (paste)
  • 2 Garlic cloves (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon Chili Pepper powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 2 cups of beef stock
  • Tomato paste
  • 500g Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • Bay leaves
  • 250g Irish Potatoes
  • Spring Onions
  • METHOD

    1. Heat up two tbsp olive oil a large pot. Place the beef cubes in hot oil and season with Onga cubes, brown the cubes of beef on all sides then set aside.
    2. Add the sliced onions to the same pot (add another table spoon of oil if required)
    3. Add garlic paste, ginger and all spices (paprika, chili, cumin & turmeric)
    4. Add another Onga cubes to the onion and spice mix the add tomato paste and stir
    5. Toss in the chopped tomato and stir to combine all spices. Add thyme and bay leaves, and simmer for one minute
    6. Add browned beef, peeled and cubed Irish potatoes, chopped pitted dates then add 2 cups of beef stock
    7. Cover and cook on low heat for 45 minutes
    8. Serve with Couscous or rice
